Avalara makes sales tax software that automates tax calculations and
the tax filing process.

I joined Avalara in 2020 as a Senior UX designer, as this was my first perm role in nearly 15 years, I took the opportunity to progress my career when a UX manager role became vacant.

I very much enjoyed this career progression and found I moved into a player/coach role with ease, helping me manage my team, but also remain hands on with the products I had helped design.

As a Senior UX Designer at Avalara, I was responsible for enhancing the customer experience of our EMEA products, with a specific focus on European VAT liability.

My role involved both significant improvements and incremental updates to ensure our products meet the needs of small businesses dealing with VAT complexities across Europe.

By creating efficient and user-friendly designs for our software products, I implemented innovative UX strategies that have significantly improved customer satisfaction and user engagement.

I also played a key role in expanding the company's presence in the EMEA region by ensuring our products meet the specific needs and preferences of these markets.
